About Mike Oster

  I want to take a minute of your time to introduce myself. My name is Mike Oster and I am a Republican running for the office of Lake County Coroner. 

  I grew up on the South Side of Chicago, the youngest of five children. I went to school at Loyola University in Chicago, CCOM in Hyde Park, and moved to the north suburbs after training. I was here that I started a practice in Emergency Medicine.

Through my experience as the elected treasurer I learned about managing a budget of a corporation that had gross billings of $30M, balancing the needs of physicians to stay in business with the spiraling health care costs and premiums, and finding highly skilled physicians.
  I became active in the Saint Therese Medical Center child protection team that led me to meet members of the community involved in prevention of child abuse.  I also met with the States Attorney’s office and Coroners office in cases relating to child and sex abuse of children.
  It was through this involvement with that I volunteered with the Breakfast Exchange Club of Gurnee.  I have served on several of their committees and with the help of others in both the Noon and Breakfast Club of Gurnee; we have provided the community with funds and services that were needed.
  As many of you know, for the last 28 years, I have served as an emergency room physician in Lake County.  During that time, I have established a professional reputation of being a good doctor and a good team member. 

Every day at work in the emergency room, care providers must work together for the best outcome for their patients.          
  That sense of teamwork is what I will bring to the elected position of County Coroner. 

As coroner, I assure you I will work for the families, the care providers, law enforcement officers and the professionals that come into contact with the coroner's office. 

Under the leadership of Barb Richardson, the Lake County Coroner's Office was known nationally for its high level of service.  I pledge to you that I will return that reputation to our great county once elected.
  In the coming months, I will need your help to get the message out about my candidacy.  I am committed to running the best campaign possible and I want every one of you to feel comfortable in contacting me should you need additional information about my candidacy. 
  I need your help, whether it is hosting a coffee at your home, inviting me to speak at one of your clubs or organizations or walking in your neighborhood.
