Dr Mark and the sutures were formed in 1987 on a lark to provide some entertainment for a neighborhood block party.  It was made up of local North Shore physicians and businessmen who enjoyed and played music as a hobby.  For some reason the public and the media became very interested in the band and the band agreed to do limited performances for medical charities, benefits, service organizations and community events.

Dr. Mark and the Sutures have been featured on several television shows (ABC – Janet Davies, Fox – Amy Scott), featured multiple times on the radio of Chicago (WCKG and WUSN FM radio), interviewed on these and other Chicago radio stations and in other cities, and have had many newspaper articles written about them.

Dr. Mark and the Sutures have performed at venues including Allstate Arena (Rosemont Horizon), Taste of Chicago, Ravinia Festival, Country Thunder, Lambs Farm, Misericordia, to name but a few.  They hlso have been joined on several occasions by Victor Aitay, Concermaster Emeritus, of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Of note is the fact that since 1988, Dr. Mark’s son Adam (now 23 years old) has been playing and touring with the band on all of its shows.  As the band members all have full time careers and families, a limited number of engagements are done each year.  They choose not to receive any remuneration for these shows.

Because of their longstanding service to their hometown community (Highland Park, IL), they were presented with a Mayoral Proclamation.
